Grant- Roberts Rural Water System (GRRWS) in Milbank, SD is accepting applications for:
WATER SYSTEM OPERATOR:
Requirements include a high school or equivalent education. Applicants must possess the following skills: basic math, mechanical and electrical aptitude; the ability to work in confined conditions, working outdoors in most weather conditions; and performing manual labor, including walking, bending, kneeling, lifting, climbing and carrying heavy and awkward items. Applicants must have good communication skills, both oral and written. Applicants must be self-motivated and able to work with a minimum amount of direct supervision. Applicants must possess, or agree to obtain a Class I Water Operators’ Certification within two years from date of hire. As a condition of employment, applicants will be required to reside within the water system’s service area within six months of hire.
Duties include: maintain required records and reports; operate and maintain the distribution facilities including tower, reservoirs, booster pump stations, pressure reducing stations, pipelines, and water treatment plant operations. Applicants must become proficient with GPS/GIS System, “smart phone” and computer technology, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Applicant will be required to discontinue member service or connect/install service to new members; monitor system for water leaks and repair the same; respond to customer needs; maintain and operate all equipment in a safe manner; participate in a rotating on-call duty outside of normal duty hours to promptly meet the emergency needs of the members and perform other assigned
